There are also some types of sea salts that are made from rock salt, and these salts are not as salty as sea salts. However, they contain the same minerals, and so they are more expensive.

In general, table salt is made from seawater, and sea salt is made from ground seawater. Table salt has a higher percentage of sodium compared to sea salt, and this makes table salt a better choice for many people.

When choosing table salt, you'll have to consider what you want to use it for. If you're eating it for health reasons, then sea salt is probably not an option although you might want to take sea salt supplements if you don't like the taste.

If you plan to cook with your table salt, then it's important to read the label carefully before buying it. You should check the percentage of the sodium content of the salt, the sodium levels in other ingredients of the product, and other relevant facts.

Sodium content is usually stated as milligrams per 100 grams of salt, which works out as about six grams for a single tablespoon of table salt. If you buy the smaller containers of table salt, then it is less likely that you will end up having too much sodium in the dish. However, if you buy larger containers, then it is unlikely that you'll get enough salt. For example, if you buy a tin of four tablespoons of table salt and put half a teaspoon of sodium in it, you'll end up with six teaspoons.

Look also at the sodium content in the other ingredients of the dish. Some foods tend to have less sodium than others, depending on what it is. Seafood contains less sodium than meat, and so if you are planning to serve with fish or seafood, then you may need to buy more table salt than you think.

If you have a family and plan to serve food that's eaten on a regular basis, then you'll need to buy more table salt than you do for the amount of salt used for cooking. You'll also need more sea salt.

When preparing dishes for other people, it's important to keep track of the salt content of the table salt. In order to prepare a good meal for them, you need to know the total amount of salt and the percentage of sodium.

Finally, you may find that the cost of the salt itself can be a factor when trying to decide how much you need to buy. Since salt is cheap, buying too little can result in spending a lot on the salt itself.
